Updates to online application screens – bypassing medical questions

Effective October 26, we've introduced changes to our online application to make the application process smoother for Brokers whose clients have the opportunity to skip specific medical questions.

1. When a member qualifies to bypass the medical questions, Brokers will be required to specify the reason before moving to the next steps of a Complete Health or Assured Access application. This will improve efficiencies in handling new applications. These new options are:

  • Overage dependents moving to their own plan
  • Individuals moving to a separate policy due to separation or divorce
  • Interplan transfers (from another province, prior approval required)
  • Choosing "None of the Above" will move the application along through the regular process with medical questions.

2. When the option has been chosen to bypass the medical questions due to either an overage dependent or an individual moving to a second policy due to separation or divorce, the member’s current Medavie Blue Cross policy and ID numbers will be required for the application process in the Other Coverage screen.

3. You will notice a new question when completing a Complete Health and Guaranteed Acceptance application. You will be asked if member is coming off an individual plan or group insurance through their employer. This question will not appear if bypassing the medical questions.
